Co
I realized how I don't really write on this blog, but rather post pictures I vicariously live through. So instead, I'm going to have this blog be principally about photos and random writing here and there. I might write more than less but who knows - my life is currently on high speed and I'm trying to keep up. So here are some pictures from my trip to Colombia during Spring Break..

Diana Taylor "A Savage Performance"
"We," those viewers who look through the eyes of the explorer, are
(like the explorer) positioned safely outside the frame, free to define, theorize,
and debate their (never "our") societies. The "encounters" with the native cre-
ate "us" as audience just as much as the violence of definition creates "them"-
the primitives. The drama depends on maintaining a unidirectional gaze, and
stages the lack of reciprocity and mutual understanding
inherent in "discovery."

ATL
This past weekend, Yoán, Tommy, Jordan and I drove 12 hours to Atlanta to see Bosnian Rainbows at the West Terminal. We literally started driving at 04:00 and did not get to our place of rest until about... 18:00 (this gave Yoán [who drove the entire time because he wanted to] time to nap before the show at 21:00). Marriages opened for them and they were fucking amazing - I'm completely smitten by the lead singer. She was literally incredible majestic and she embodied everything I admire in a person. Obviously Bosnian Rainbows was amazing and Yoán and Jordan got a personal stare and "thank you" from Omar Rodriguez-López which was the highlight of their life. I posted a picture of Omar, Deantoni and Teri on my Instagram and Cathy Pellow commented on it and basically had a convo with Yoán - ridiculous shit. The next day we stayed and went to see the Frida and Diego exhibit which was mind-blowing. It lasts until May 15-ish and if you have the time to go, you should! It's the only exhibit of their work in the USA. Anyway, we rode back home yesterday and I wasn't home until about 22:00, which wasn't that bad. Before class today, I went to go develop the film from the weekend and the pictures gives me a 90's grunge feeling with a hint of the country side. Anyway, here are the pictures!
